– INDIGENizeUS: From Proposal to Implementation to Impact
Lindy Kinoshameg and Allen MacInnis will speak about a series of workshops called INDIGENizeUS, a unique collaboration at Young People’s Theatre (YPT). The workshops, which focused on learning from Indigenous culture, teachings and history, have led to new thoughts about many aspects of YPT’s practices including work on building newcomer relations. Lindy and Allen will do a Q&A following their presentation.

11:30AM – 12:30PMNyla Innuksuk: Indigenous Storytelling Through New Media
Nyla Innuksuk will speak about Indigenous storytelling through new media. Nyla has worked with Tanya Tagaq, A Tribe Called Red, and the Glenn Gould Foundation to use interactive sound design to share a unique perspective.  Nyla will also touch on Indigenous Futurisms as it relates to her work in virtual reality, as well as her science-fiction Indigenous film and the character of Snowguard that she co-created and writes for Marvel Comics.  Nyla will discuss what made these particular collaborations so successful.
